Who we are:
- ASI members interested
in indexing in the fields covered by the behavioral and social
sciences including psychology, sociology, psychiatry, anthropology,
counseling, social work, school psychology, educational psychology,
and neuropsychiatry.
Our mission is to:
- Provide members with a networking forum for
information exchange. It will be a place to ask any and
all indexing questions related to indexing in the behavioral
sciences.
- Assist with professional development. This
will be accomplished by allowing indexers to interact with
each other, support each other, and offer training related
to behavioral sciences indexing at chapter or national conferences
or other venues.
- Offer a place for peer reviews of indexes,
which will help develop the skill level among members and increase/improve
the standard of indexes for behavioral sciences’ publications.
- Engage in marketing to publishers, including
the provision of a job notification program.
- It is our goal to give back to the field and
community of indexers, and we can offer more as a group than
we can individually to accomplish this goal.
